Police in Sioux Falls hosted another round of events to get to know people in the neighborhoods they serve.

“Coffee with a Cop” gives the people of Sioux Falls a chance to discuss their concerns or just have a friendly conversation. Officers who participated in the event said these informal interactions show that they are just normal people who happen to wear a badge.

“The biggest thing that I take from this is being able to further our motto of partnering with the community,” officer Chase VanderHule said. “We can talk to them on no agenda, nothing driving us other than a cup of coffee with each other and having a conversation.”

Police hosted two events, one at Coffea Roasterie on S. Highline Place and another at Bagel Boy on S. Minnesota Avenue.

Officers from past events said “Coffee with a Cop” has been effective for building relationships between police and the community.
