Tuesday’s coffee with a cop at the Blue Parrot Cafe on Macleay Island was as successful an event as we have ever hosted.

With Sergeant Dave Purcell and his partner in crime Senior Constable Carolyn Gregg on hand to meet the locals, listen to concerns, offer advice and of course pay for all the coffee they were very popular indeed.

Amongst all the riveting conversations throughout the morning concerning everything Macleay Island was one in particular on how not to hold a fluffy coffee drink…

Between rushes to the counter for coffee and tea orders bayside Volunteers in Police (ViP) managed to sign up numerous locals to receive free home security assessments.

Police Liaison Officers (PLO) aptly utilised their liaison skills and Crime Stoppers volunteers continued their fantastic effort by not only providing valuable information but receiving it too.

We here at bayside District Crime Prevention (DCPC) love what they continue to bring to the party and we aren’t talking about balloons.

A highlight for many Russell Islanders was meeting new bayside patrol group, Superintendent Virginia Nelson who took time out of her busy schedule to support her staff and to attend this event.
