The road to communication is paved with coffee.

The Harlingen Police department hosted their Coffee With A Cop event this morning at Cracker Barrel.

Coffee With A Cop is a national initiative that started in 2011 as a way to bridge the communication gap between a community and the local law enforcement.

About 10 to 15 officers made their way around tables, sat down and had conversations with those in attendance. One officer even decided to help bus a table.

The event started at seven in the morning and lasted about two hours.

According to Commander David Osborne, conversations ranged from inquiries about what to do in certain situations to small talk about the weather.
