A chat with a cop over coffee last weekend resulted in a tip that got a 21-year-old woman wanted in Maryland arrested, according to Ellendale Police.

The department hosted “Coffee with a Cop” last Saturday and received a tip during the event that a wanted woman might be living in the 100 block of Main Street, police said.

On Friday night, a woman matching the description provided to police was seen walking on Main Street and was stopped by police. Officers were able to identify her using a handheld fingerprint scanner, police said.

Police determined that Lonnece M. Conway was wanted by the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office in Maryland on a warrant for failing to appear in court and violating probation on three counts of forgery, three counts of theft less than $1000, two counts of issuing false documents, one count of theft scheme less $1,000, and one count of attempted theft less than $1,000, police said.

Officers with Ellendale Police charged Conway as a fugitive and turned her over to Maryland officials in relation to those charges.
